Dr. Morel Koren

I am a music teacher and researcher involved in an R&D project that develops an AI application for promoting singing and music literacy in public schools - https://www.4solfy.com/.

2003 – 2007, Ph.D., from University of the Arts “George Enescu,” Iasi, Romania with the dissertation Musical Timbre – history, development, technology, based on interdisciplinary research in evolutionary musicology, history, and development technology for music and audio-visual systems. Dissertation advisor, Prof. Viorel Munteanu, composer, musicologist, and Rector of the University.

1998 – 2003, lecturer at Bar-Ilan University’s Department of Music on courses in music technology: music notation engraving, MIDI arrangements, audio recordings, editing, and multimedia for music education.

1980 – 1986, organizing, performing, and recording six national light-music festivals (Romania).

I was a winner of song composition contests in the “Cântare României” national art festival frame.

Employment history

  • 1996 – 2021, co-manager of the computer music laboratory at the Music  Department, 
  • 1998-2003 - Instructor and lecturer at the Music Department, Bar – Ilan University. Initiator of a continuing education program for music teachers in technology in music education.
  • 1996 – Adj. Director of Municipal Music Center “Steinberg,” Holon.
  • 1994 - Teaching at Music Center of Tel Aviv municipality, courses about implementing technology in music education.
  • 1987-1996 - Teaching violin, guitar, and keyboard at Beit Frankfurt, Hadar-Joseph, Project “Ajami” and “Arab - Jewish Center,” Tel-Aviv-Jaffa.
