B.A. in Music
The Bachelor’s degree in Music Studies at Bar-Ilan University is one of the oldest in the country and includes a mix of courses in a variety of fields: Western music history, music theory, and ethnomusicology (the study of both non-Western and traditional Western music passed down orally), as well as performance groups (choir and chamber ensembles) and elective courses for general enrichment. Additionally, there is an option to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Music with a specialization in Music Technology. The degree can also be combined with a teaching certificate.
The Bachelor’s degree in Music is available as a single major (92 credits) or double major (60 credits). In the case of a double major, you must combine the studies with another field from a different department. The Music Department has an arrangement with the Comparative Literature Department, allowing students to pursue a structured double major in a way that reduces the total number of credits required. In the single major track, there is no need to register for an additional department.
The faculty for the Bachelor’s degree consists of a variety of high-quality lecturers specializing in music theory, history, ethnomusicology, and performance.
The academic director of the Bachelor’s degree is Dr. Avi Bar Eitan.
